On Thursday, 11 December 2025, the Nigerian House of Representatives scheduled debate on eight bills covering banking reform, military healthcare, rural development, and human rights. Lawmakers also planned to consider a motion addressing the failure of NNPC Pension Fund Limited to pay retirement benefits owed to former oil sector workers. Four committee reports were also lined up for presentation to the full House.
The House of Representatives had a packed agenda on 11 December 2025, with eight bills listed for second reading and four committee reports scheduled for presentation.
Among the bills, lawmakers were set to debate a proposal to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria Act to improve oversight and checks and balances at the apex bank. Another bill sought to establish an Armed Forces Medical College in Abuja. A constitutional alteration bill proposed creating an additional local government area in Ekiti State. Other bills targeted rural development through a new National Integrated Rural Development Agency (NIRDA), vocational education in Anambra State, tomato research and production in Kano State, and amendments to the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act. A bill to strengthen the National Human Rights Commission in line with international Paris Principles was also listed.
A notable motion raised concerns about the NNPC Pension Fund Limited, citing alleged non-payment of pensions, failure to obey court orders, and financial mismanagement affecting retired oil sector workers. The motion called on the National Pension Commission to review the fund's operations and urged that pension arrears be paid within three months.
Committee reports covered agriculture, FCT judiciary, and the proposed conversion of a Jos medical laboratory institution into a full university.
