Lesotho Prime Minister Invites Nigerian Investors to Relocate

On Wednesday, during the Nigeria-Lesotho B2B Business Meeting in Abuja, Lesotho's Prime Minister Sam Matekane called on Nigerian investors to relocate their businesses from South Africa to Lesotho, assuring them of a secure investment environment and 100% repatriation of capital. This appeal was made in light of recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa, where businesses were targeted and lives lost.

The meeting was organized by the African Leadership Organisation and the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Matekane outlined Lesotho's commitment to economic transformation, focusing on industrialization, infrastructure, and opportunities for women and youth.

He highlighted the country's strategic advantages, including abundant water resources, renewable energy potential, and a young workforce, making it an attractive investment destination in sectors like manufacturing, construction, and tourism. He emphasized the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area in enhancing intra-African trade and expressed his government's dedication to creating a stable and transparent business environment.
