Lewandowski Confirms Barcelona Asked Him to Stop Scoring to Avoid Bonus

Robert Lewandowski revealed that Barcelona requested him to stop scoring towards the end of the 2022-23 La Liga season to prevent activating a bonus clause in his contract worth €2.5 million. Despite being in the race for the Pichichi award, Lewandowski complied with the club's request due to their financial situation.

This incident was detailed in a book by Sebastian Staszewski. Barcelona's manager intervened and instructed Lewandowski not to score again.

As a result, Lewandowski did not find the back of the net in the last two games of the season against Mallorca and Celta Vigo.
