Rivers Communities Celebrate Power Restoration After Decade

Chima Njoku, the Local Government Council Chairman of Etche in Rivers State, has made significant strides in restoring electricity to 40 communities that have suffered from a decade-long blackout. This initiative is part of his campaign promise to address the perennial electricity issues in the area.

Njoku has pledged to extend power supply to 100 communities within the Okehi, Mba, and Ozuzu clans. The restoration of electricity was facilitated through negotiations with the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHEDC) and the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), following persistent pressure from the local community.

The new power supply is being managed by Aba Power, a newly established power distribution company based in Aba, Abia State. Community members, including public analyst Amadi Akujiobi, have expressed their appreciation for the developments.

Last week, a large gathering of residents visited Njoku's office to show gratitude for the restoration of electricity, marking a significant achievement for the local government.
