Osun APP Urges Enforcement of Court Ruling on Local Government

The Osun State chapter of the Action Peoples Party (APP), led by Chairman Odesola Titu Sundai, has called on security agencies to ensure compliance with a recent Federal High Court judgment concerning the local government crisis in the state. The court, sitting in Osogbo, declared that the continued occupation of council offices by All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and councillors is unconstitutional.

The APP emphasized that the judgment does not invalidate the local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025. They warned against any illegal interference with the mandates of duly elected officials and urged relevant security agencies to take immediate action to uphold the rule of law and maintain peace and order in Osun State.

The APP expressed appreciation for the cooperation of security agencies in upholding democratic values. Meanwhile, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has vowed to conduct local government council elections under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on February 22, 2025, with the expectation that council officials will resume office on June 22, 2026.
