Osun Police Urge Calm After Court Ruling on LG Dispute

The Osun State Police Command, represented by DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, issued a statement on Friday urging residents and political stakeholders to maintain calm following a recent judgment from the Federal High Court in Osogbo concerning ongoing local government disputes in the state. The command observed a rise in tension after the ruling and stated it would closely monitor the situation.

They stressed the importance of following established legal procedures to enforce the court's judgment and warned against any attempts to take the law into private hands, which could threaten the peace and stability of the state. The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and would take decisive action against individuals or groups attempting to disrupt peace.

Additionally, the Osun State government had previously sought police protection for elected chairmen from the PDP and APC in light of the local government elections scheduled for February 22, 2025, while cautioning against enforcing the judgment during the ongoing appeal process.
