ANSIEC Sets April 1 for Local Government Election Campaigns

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) has officially announced that the campaign period for the upcoming local government elections in Anambra State will begin on April 1, 2026. In a press statement, Chief Sir Toni Chinedu, the commission's chief, highlighted the commission's responsibility to inform the public and empower registered political parties to participate in the electoral process.

He urged that civil order should prevail throughout the campaign period and emphasized the necessity for political parties to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the commission. This announcement comes ahead of the local government elections scheduled for August 29, 2026.

Additionally, the spokesperson for ANSIEC acknowledged the recent inauguration of Gov. Charles Soludo for his second term in office and noted the importance of appointing competent individuals in recent appointments made.
