Ogwu Onoja Named Patron for AACT 2026 Women's Golf

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has appointed Chief Dr. Ogwu Onoja as the patron and ambassador for the Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) 2026.

This initiative aims to strengthen preparations for the women's golf championship scheduled to take place in Nigeria from November 1 to November 7, 2026, at the IBB International Golf Country Club in Abuja. The appointment underscores LGAN's commitment to delivering a successful tournament that garners global respect and supports the growth of women's golf across the continent.

Lami Ahm, the president of LGAN, highlighted Onoja's leadership credentials and passion for advancing women's sports. Onoja's role includes providing strategic guidance, promoting the championship, and mobilizing national support, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's vision of using sports as a tool for social cohesion.

The tournament is expected to attract female golfers from 40 African countries, further enhancing Nigeria's capacity to host significant sporting events.
