Delta State Governor Commended for Approving Three-Year Counterpart Fund Arrears for Agriculture Project

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori received commendation from the State Coordinator of Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND), Mr. Collin Ashoro, for approving the payment of three-year counterpart fund arrears.

The LIFE-ND project is a tripartite program involving the Federal Government of Nigeria, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The project, which commenced in 2019 and is set to run until 2031, focuses on supporting agriculture and entrepreneurship skills among youths, women, and persons with disabilities in the Niger Delta region.

The first phase of the project, which targeted 10 selected local government areas in Delta State, successfully concluded in March 2025, with the second phase commencing in October 2025. The project aims to achieve economic development, wealth creation, and sustainable support for agribusiness enterprises.

The total project financing plan amounts to $90 million, with IFAD providing $60 million and NDDC contributing $30 million. The payment of the counterpart fund arrears is crucial for the successful implementation and delivery of the project objectives.
