Linkin Park Makes History with Female-Led Download Festival

Linkin Park has broken new ground by becoming the first rock band with a female lead singer, Emili Armstrong, to headline the Download Festival, the UK's largest rock festival, held at Donington Park, Leicestershire. This event, scheduled for the final night of the three-day festival, marks a significant milestone since the festival's launch in 2003, which has predominantly featured male-fronted acts like Iron Maiden, Slipknot, and Metallica.

The band's reunion in 2024 comes seven years after the death of original lead singer Chester Bennington by suicide. Chester's family has expressed criticism regarding the band's decision to continue, particularly from his son, Jaim Bennington.

Armstrong has faced backlash due to her alleged associations with controversial figures but has distanced herself from them. The band's comeback single, "Empty Machine," reached number four on the UK Top 40 chart.
