Messi Set to Acquire Spanish Club CD Eldense

Lionel Messi is preparing to acquire Spanish second-tier club CD Eldense, reaching an agreement in principle to purchase 100% of the shares from the Colombian investment group TH Soluciones Group. This potential takeover is at an advanced negotiation stage, subject to final legal and contractual procedures, including due diligence and approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD).

Messi, who is 39 years old, previously acquired a controlling stake in UE Cornellà earlier in 2023. The acquisition of Eldense would mark his first ownership of a professional Spanish club, as the club competes in LaLiga Hypermotion, Spain's second division.

Currently, Eldense is facing challenges, having collected only two points from four matches and recently dismissing manager Claudio Barragán. Local officials, including Elda mayor Rubén Alfaro, have welcomed Messi's potential involvement but urge caution until the transaction is finalized.

Messi is expected to pursue the acquisition independently, without third-party partners.
