Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Empowers 5,800 Women

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has launched an empowerment program targeting 5,800 women across the state's 44 local government areas, providing each beneficiary with N50,000 under the Monthly Women’s Empowerment and Poverty Relief Programme. This initiative, part of the Kano First agenda, aims to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods by promoting women's entrepreneurship and strengthening household incomes.
The program was inaugurated on Monday at the Open Arena, Government House, Kano. Governor Yusuf assured that funds for the initiative are secured until December 2026, ensuring uninterrupted monthly payments.
He encouraged beneficiaries to invest the funds in micro-businesses of their choice. Mariya Bunkure, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, represented President Bola Tinubu at the event and praised Governor Yusuf for his commitment to women's empowerment.
