Jorge Messi, the father of Inter Miami and Argentina forward Lionel Messi, died at the age of 68 on Saturday in a hospital located in Rosario, Argentina. His death was announced by Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys, which noted that he had been receiving treatment for an unspecified illness in recent months.

Jorge Messi was described as a pivotal figure in Lionel's life and career, having supported him alongside his wife, Celia Cuccittini. He is survived by his four children: Lionel, Rodrigo, Matías, and María Sol.

Jorge Messi played a crucial role in Lionel's professional journey, serving as his agent and managing his business affairs, including negotiating contracts with FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami. He had been unable to attend the recent World Cup tournament in North America due to health issues.
