Lionsgate Announces "Michael 2" Biopic Sequel Development

Lionsgate has officially announced the development of "Michael 2," the sequel to the successful biopic "Michael," which opened worldwide on April 24 and grossed $217 million globally, including $120 million from international markets. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheim expressed pride in the project's performance, highlighting the global appetite for Michael Jackson's legacy. The sequel will not only continue the narrative but will also explore significant events omitted from the first film, such as Jackson's legal troubles and family dynamics.

Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, noted that the sequel will utilize pre-existing footage to reduce production costs and ensure a faster release timeline.
