Lisandro Martinez's 3-Match Ban Upheld After Appeal Denied

Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, will serve a three-match ban after the club's appeal against a red card was denied by the Football Association (FA). The red card was issued by referee Paul Tierney for a hair-pulling incident involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin during Manchester United's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

The FA's independent commission found no convincing evidence to suggest that the level of force applied by Martinez was negligent, and they deemed the referee's decision not to be a clear and obvious error. Manchester United's manager, Michael Carrick, previously described the decision as shocking.

As a result of the ban, Martinez will miss crucial matches against Brentford and Liverpool. He had already begun serving his suspension during Manchester United's 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Tuesday.
