The Ekiti State governorship election began with a voter turnout of over 1.02 million registered voters. The registration area center was located at St.

Thomas Aquinas Catholic Primary School in Ado Ekiti, where electoral materials were distributed early. Security personnel were deployed to maintain order and ensure the smooth movement of materials across various polling centers.

Voters started arriving at polling units as early as 7:15 AM, with voting scheduled to commence at 8:30 AM. The election features 13 political parties, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) being the main contenders.

The European Union issued a warning against activities that could undermine the credibility of the election. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prevented the deployment of poll agents.

Despite these challenges, the SDP expressed readiness for a credible and peaceful election process.
