Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Governorship Election Amid Challenges

In the Ekiti State governorship election, held on a Saturday, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious, receiving 17,901 votes in Ido Osi Local Government and 14,705 votes in Ekiti South West. His closest competitor, Dr.

Wole Oluyed of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 1,449 votes in Ido Osi and 1,800 votes in Ekiti South West. Ambassador Dare Bejid of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 561 votes in Ido Osi and 1,076 votes in Ekiti South West.

Former Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi commended the election's smooth conduct.

However, there were reports of low voter turnout and some polling units experiencing technical difficulties with the bimodal voter accreditation system. Incidents of violence were noted, but community leaders urged residents to remain calm and participate in the electoral process.

The election results indicated a strong showing for the APC across various polling units.
