Ibrahima Konaté Close to New Contract with Liverpool FC

Ibrahima Konaté, a 26-year-old French international, is close to finalizing a new contract with Liverpool FC, where he has been an integral part of the defense since joining from RB Leipzig for £35 million in 2021. His current contract is set to expire in the summer.

Konaté expressed optimism about the negotiations, stating that discussions have been ongoing and that he expects to remain at Anfield next season. He mentioned that Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes, has been straightforward in the negotiations, which began around September to November.

Despite the team's struggles this season, including a push for a top-four finish for Champions League qualification, Konaté remains committed to the club. He also reflected on the emotional impact of losing his father in January and acknowledged the challenges faced during a tough year, emphasizing his strong connection to Liverpool as a family-oriented club.
