Nigeria's Livestock Ministry Pursues Zero-Waste Partnership

The Ministry of Livestock Development, led by Honourable Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha, is seeking a partnership with Greenfield Feedlot Packaging Company, represented by Ahm Al Mustapha, to drive livestock production in Nigeria. During a courtesy visit on June 3, 2026, Maiha emphasized the economic potential of the livestock industry and the importance of utilizing every component of livestock to eliminate waste.

He referenced the success story of JBS Brazil, which started as a modest meat processing enterprise and has grown into one of the world's largest meat companies, generating $74 billion annually. The partnership aims to establish a zero-waste model that strengthens Nigeria's livestock value chain and taps into the expanding global halal meat market.

Ibrahim Danbauchi, the ministry's secretary, outlined the company's requests for strategic partnership, policy support, and assistance in connecting with international technical and financial partners. The proposed project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and increase government revenue through taxation.
