NRC Warns Against Vandalism on Abuja-Kaduna Rail Line

On Wednesday, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), voiced serious concerns regarding the frequent incidents of vandalism and stone-pelting targeting trains along the Abuja-Kaduna rail corridor.

He described these actions as reckless and unpatriotic, capable of endangering lives and undermining national investments in railway infrastructure. Opeifa highlighted that the vandalism not only damages trains but also disrupts services, increases maintenance costs, and poses threats to passenger safety.

He noted that the railway system, which serves as a vital economic and social corridor for thousands of Nigerians, is suffering from the consequences of these attacks. Opeifa called for a cultural shift among citizens to protect public assets, asserting that the railway belongs to the people and should not be treated as government property.

He emphasized that every act of vandalism ultimately harms ordinary citizens and the future of Nigeria.
