NSCDC Arrests 12 for Railway Vandalism in Kaduna

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended 12 individuals in Kaduna for their alleged involvement in a rail vandalism syndicate. This operation was initiated after a viral video displayed extensive damage to the newly installed Kaduna-Kano railway track.

The arrests were made under the directive of NSCDC Commandant General Prof. Ahm Abubakar Audi, who ordered the Special Intelligence Squad to investigate and apprehend those linked to the sabotage. The suspects were reportedly operating from a facility associated with Inner Galaxi Steel Company located in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area.

They are accused of using the company as a collection point for stolen railway components, including railway slippers and pipes from the NNPC water board. The NSCDC described the syndicate's activities as a significant act of economic sabotage, resulting in substantial losses to the federal government.

The arrested individuals include Usman Hassan (27), Bilyaminu Usman (30), Choji John Pam (40), Jamilu Isah Jaafar (37), Chukwuemeka Udonwok (38), Chikwodilli Ezema (29), and Isaac Etim (36), all currently detained for investigation into criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of vandalized property.
