Kwara Government Urges Youths to Embrace Entrepreneurship

The Kwara State Government has encouraged young people to move beyond traditional white-collar jobs and focus on entrepreneurship and skills acquisition. Ndanusa Shehu, the Commissioner for Youth Development, made this statement in Ilorin, emphasizing the necessity for youths to develop marketable skills due to the limited availability of conventional jobs.

He highlighted various opportunities in sectors like agriculture, where youths can engage in processing, packaging, and marketing without owning farmland. The government is also working on projects to enhance youth engagement, including the rehabilitation of the Ilorin Stadium and the construction of new stadiums in Lafiagi and Offa.

Additionally, the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme was mentioned as a means for young graduates to gain practical work experience while earning an income. The Ministry of Youth Development is collaborating with several institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bank of Agriculture, to support youth development and agribusiness initiatives.
