Umo Eno Urges NYSC Members to Embrace Entrepreneurship

On Tuesday, during the opening of the 2026 NYSC Corp Employ Workshop in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno urged youth service corps members to focus on entrepreneurship rather than chasing limited white-collar jobs. He emphasized that acquiring entrepreneurial skills would better position young graduates to become self-employed and achieve financial independence.

Eno noted the growing population in Nigeria and the limited resources available, making self-employment increasingly vital. He commended the NYSC scheme for its role in fostering independence among young people.

The workshop, themed on enhancing collaboration for corps member welfare, featured keynotes from NYSC Director General Brig Gen Olakunl Nafiu, who highlighted the importance of employer support and quality mentorship for corps members. The event also included remarks from Mr.

Godfrei Nwaje and Mr. Ngozi Akuagbaogu, who discussed strategies to improve the welfare and service experience of corps members.
