Kwara Government Encourages Youth Entrepreneurship and Skills

The Kwara State Government has called on young people to look beyond traditional white-collar jobs and focus on acquiring relevant skills and entrepreneurship to become job creators. Ambassador Ndanusa Usman Shehu, the Commissioner for Youth Development, made this statement during an appearance on The Platform, a government accountability program aired on Midland FM in Ilorin.

He emphasized the importance of self-reliance through skill development and entrepreneurship, encouraging youths to explore agribusiness opportunities beyond conventional farming. The commissioner mentioned ongoing projects, such as the rehabilitation of the Ilorin Stadium and the construction of new stadiums in Lafiagi and Offa, aimed at providing platforms for sports and productive engagements.

He also discussed the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme, which offers young graduates a year of work experience with start-ups while earning an income. The Ministry of Youth Development collaborates with various institutions to support youth initiatives and agribusiness, urging young people to take responsibility for their future.
