Nigerian Forward Ademola Lookman Joins Atletico Madrid from Atalanta in €40m Deal

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has completed a transfer from Atalanta to Atletico Madrid in a deal worth €40 million. Lookman penned a heartfelt farewell message to Atalanta, where he spent three and a half seasons, scoring 55 goals and providing 27 assists in 137 appearances.

He highlighted his memorable hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, which secured Atalanta's first European trophy. Lookman expressed gratitude to Atalanta for making him feel at home and creating lasting memories.

The 28-year-old forward signed a four-year contract with Atletico Madrid, reportedly earning €7 million per season, a significant increase from his previous salary. Lookman is set to make his debut for Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Real Betis.

He was also named in the African Player of the Year and African Men's Ballon d'Or shortlists in 2024.
