Ademola Lookman Makes History as First English-Born Player in Europe's Top Four Leagues

Ademola Lookman has made history by becoming the first English-born player to play in Europe's top four leagues - Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga. The 28-year-old forward signed with Atletico Madrid from Atalanta in a deal worth €40 million, with additional add-ons.

Lookman, who won the African Player of the Year award in 2024, began his career at Charlton Athletic before moving to Everton and later having successful loan spells at RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City. He scored his first goal in the Premier League and secured Atalanta's first European trophy in 2024.

Lookman, who was on the shortlist for the 2024 African Player of the Year, has represented both England at youth levels and Nigeria at the senior level.
