Lookman Names James and Van Dijk as Toughest Defenders

Ademola Lookman, a forward for Atalanta, identified Chelsea's Reece James and Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk as the toughest defenders he has encountered in his career. In an interview with ESPN, Lookman discussed his experiences facing elite defenders throughout his career, which has spanned England, Germany, Italy, and now Spain.

He has played against Liverpool seven times, scoring once and providing one assist, with a notable performance in December 2021 when he scored the decisive goal in Leicester City's 1-0 victory over Liverpool. Lookman has faced James multiple times in domestic and European competitions, although he was unable to score or assist in their recent Champions League match where Atalanta lost to Chelsea 2-1.

Currently enjoying a successful spell in Spain, Lookman has made 19 appearances for Atalanta this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists, including contributions in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League. Despite a recent minor muscle issue, he returned to fitness in time for the final week of the campaign.
