NLC and NUAAE Defend Actions Amid LNRBDA Controversy

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Nigeria Union of Agricultural and Allied Employees (NUAAE) have defended their actions in response to allegations made by Engr. Olushola Georg Olumoroti, the Managing Director of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA).

Olumoroti accused senior union leaders, including Mr. Mudi Olayinka Raji, of orchestrating violent disturbances to hinder investigations into alleged corrupt practices.

The unions countered these claims, asserting that their protests were peaceful and within their rights. They criticized Olumoroti's leadership, citing unfulfilled promises and poor management since he assumed office in April 2025.

The NLC demanded immediate payment of outstanding salaries and corrections to erroneous staff grade placements. They emphasized that their actions are based on documented evidence and due process, rejecting any portrayal of their members as aggressors.

The unions warned stakeholders against undermining the labor movement, which they claim operates on factual grounds to protect workers' rights and welfare.
