Appeal Court Affirms Usman's Leadership in Labour Party

Senator Nenadi Usman, the interim national chairman of the Labour Party, commended the Appeal Court's ruling that dismissed an appeal filed by Barrister Julius Abur challenging her leadership. The court's unanimous decision, delivered by a three-member panel on Tuesday, affirmed a previous ruling by the Federal High Court in Abuja, which recognized Usman as the legitimate leader of the Labour Party.

The court criticized Abur for abusing the judicial process and attempting to "forum shop" by taking the matter to the Nasarawa State High Court after it had already been decided by the Supreme Court. The ruling emphasized the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Usman as the party's leader.

The court imposed a cost of ten million naira (₦10,000,000) against Abur for wasting judicial time, as the leadership dispute had already been conclusively determined.
