Labour Party Appoints Philip Agbese for Media Committee

The Labour Party (LP) has announced the appointment of Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, as the chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee for its forthcoming national convention. Initially scheduled for April 11, 2026, the convention has been rescheduled to April 28, 2026, in Umuahia, Abia State.

This decision was made to allow broader participation in the ongoing membership re-registration exercise. The announcement was made by Ken Asogwa, the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the interim national chairman.

The committee, which includes various members such as Ferdinand Ekeoma and Princ Okei, is expected to manage public relations, media accreditation, and social media engagement for the convention. The Labour Party aims to ensure a successful event as part of its preparations for the 2026 elections, following resolutions from the National Executive Council.
