Labour Party Appoints Agbese as Convention Publicity Chair

The Labour Party (LP) has appointed Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, as the Publicity Chair for its forthcoming national convention. The convention, initially scheduled for April 11, 2026, has been rescheduled to April 28, 2026, in Umuahia, Abia State.

This decision was announced in a statement released on Thursday by Ginger Onwusib, the Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee. The postponement was made to allow broader participation in the party's membership re-registration exercise, as stated by Ken Asogwa, the Senior Special Adviser on Media to the Interim National Chairman.

The statement, co-signed by Salisu Mohammad, the Convention Secretary, emphasized that Agbese will oversee public relations for the convention, including managing press accreditation and coordinating media relations. Other members of the committee include Ekeoma Ferdinand, Princ Okei, Dodo Okafor, and several others.

The Labour Party also noted Agbese's representation of the Ado-Okpokwu-Ogbadibo Federal Constituency in Benue State, where recent defections from the APC were cited due to internal crises.
