Labour Party Postpones Congresses, Forms Convention Panel

The Labour Party announced the postponement of its ward, local government, and state congresses, originally scheduled for March 26, 28, and 31, 2026, respectively, along with the national convention on April 11, 2026. This decision was made to allow broader participation in the ongoing membership re-registration exercise.

Ken Asogwa, the interim national chairman, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja. The postponement was reached during a combined stakeholders meeting involving members of the interim national working committee and representatives from labour unions.

The party aims to provide ample opportunity for current and prospective members to fully engage in the re-registration process, ensuring a seamless and credible process. A 46-member congress convention committee has been inaugurated to oversee this exercise, chaired by Hon.

Ginger Onwusib. Nenadi Usman, the national chairman of the party, urged members to discharge their responsibilities diligently and to take full advantage of the postponement to ensure thorough preparations for the upcoming congresses and convention.
