LSSC Launches Dolphin Swimming League in Lagos

The Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) hosted the Dolphin Swimming League at the Mobolaji Johnson Sport Complex in Yaba, marking a significant step in the development of swimming in Nigeria. The event featured an Olympic-sized pool and brought together champions from the World School Games and National Youth Games, highlighting young talent in swimming.

Athletes aged 8 to 16 participated in various events, including freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley races, with distances ranging from 50 meters to 200 meters. The competition emphasized technical refinement and teamwork, with parents providing enthusiastic support.

Schools such as British International School, Greensprings, Riverbank, Meadow Hall, Children International School, Corona, and James Hope College participated alongside clubs like Boken Aquatics, C Tribe, Damswim, and Makosail. Lekan Fatodu, the Director General of LSSC, stated that the event represents a clear pathway for high performance and early talent identification in Nigerian swimming.
