Mahdi Shehu Accuses Nigerian Govt of Religious Bias

Mahdi Shehu has publicly accused the Nigerian government of bias in relation to the N25 billion ecumenical chapel project being constructed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. His comments came after the federal government, represented by Secretary George Akume and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, flagged off the project on April 26, 2026.

Shehu expressed concerns over the allocation of land for the chapel, questioning whether the government would provide equal support for a mosque at the airport. He raised queries about the visibility and financial contributions for Muslim projects, suggesting that the government's actions could create an impression of partiality.

Shehu emphasized the need for equal treatment of all faiths, warning that failure to do so could lead to perceptions of bias and inequality in government support for religious facilities.
