Northern Groups Condemn Maiduguri Bomb Blasts, Urge Action

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) condemned the bomb explosions that occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday, which targeted the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and nearby areas. Jamilu Charanchi, the CNG coordinator, described the attacks as barbaric and cowardly, emphasizing that Nigeria must not revert to a dark era characterized by mass killings and terror.

The group expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged both the federal and Borno state governments to take decisive action against the renewed threats posed by terrorist groups, particularly Boko Haram. Charanchi raised concerns about the resurgence of Boko Haram activities coinciding with the controversial deployment of foreign troops in the North East.

He called for intensified efforts to identify and prosecute those financing terrorism and urged President Bola Tinubu to return from his trip to the United Kingdom to address the security situation. The CNG stressed the importance of unity among the people of Maiduguri to resist terror and defend national stability.
