CNG Condemns Maiduguri Bomb Blasts, Urges Action

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) issued a strong condemnation of the deadly bomb blasts that occurred in Maiduguri, warning against a regression to an era of terror and mass killings. The explosions reportedly took place at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, near the Monday market and post office area, disrupting the fragile peace that has been gradually rebuilt over the years in the northeast.

In a statement by the national coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, the group described the coordinated explosions as barbaric and cowardly, emphasizing that such attacks are direct assaults on the stability of the nation. The CNG expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called for urgent action from both the federal and Borno state governments, urging security agencies to move beyond routine responses and confront the renewed threat posed by Boko Haram.

They also raised concerns about the deployment of foreign troops in the region, advocating for Nigeria to tackle its security challenges independently.
