Maiduguri Bombings Claim 23 Lives, 108 Injured

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 7:24 PM, three bomb explosions occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, leading to the tragic loss of 23 lives and injuring 108 individuals. The affected locations included the Maiduguri Monday Market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover area.

ASP Nahum Dasso, the spokesman for the Borno State Police Command, confirmed the death toll and stated that preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of a suspected suicide bomber. In response to the attacks, a combined team of police tactical units and military security operatives was swiftly deployed to the scene, securing the area and conducting thorough sweeps.
