Timi Frank Critiques Tinubu's UK Trip Amid Maiduguri Violence

On Tuesday, Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Public Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's planned state visit to the United Kingdom, labeling it as morally indefensible. His statement followed a tragic attack in Maiduguri on Monday, which resulted in at least 23 Nigerian deaths and over 100 injuries, attributed to a suspected suicide bomber.

Frank condemned the government's failure to address the ongoing security crisis while the President prepares for a ceremonial visit abroad. He described the trip as a cruel abandonment of citizens suffering from violence.

Frank also accused the British government of hypocrisy for extending an invitation to Tinubu despite Nigeria's deteriorating security situation, which he claimed is exacerbated by corruption and mismanagement within the military. He demanded the immediate cancellation of the UK trip, asserting that it sends a dangerous signal about the government's detachment from the realities faced by Nigerians.
