Timi Frank, the former deputy national public secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), condemned President Bola Tinubu's intention to undertake a state visit to the United Kingdom, particularly in light of recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri. Frank described the planned trip as a "cruel abandonment" of Nigerian citizens, especially following the deadly bomb explosion that affected the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the main market.

He emphasized that while the nation faces relentless assaults, the President's focus on ceremonial engagements abroad signals a lack of empathy and leadership. Frank argued that the timing of the visit sends a dangerous message about the government's priorities, suggesting it is more concerned with photo opportunities than addressing pressing security challenges.

He also highlighted the government's mismanagement of military resources and the ongoing violence in Nigeria, calling for an immediate cancellation of the UK trip.
