Major Nigerian Firms Release Q2 2026 Results as NGX Deadline Approaches
Dangote Cement, Prestige Assurance, May & Baker, and NEM Insurance have approved second-quarter financials ahead of the July 30 NGX filing deadline.
Five major Nigerian publicly listed companies have moved to approve or file their unaudited financial statements for the second quarter of 2026, with most completing board reviews between 28 and 29 July. Dangote Cement Plc notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited on 29 July that its board had approved the Q2 statements and committed to releasing them to the public by 30 July, in line with NGX disclosure requirements.
Prestige Assurance Plc similarly completed board approval on 29 July and immediately published its statements through the NGX Issuers' Portal, making the documents available to investors. May & Baker Nigeria Plc and NEM Insurance Plc both held board meetings on 28 July to approve their Q2 accounts.
May & Baker stated the documents would be filed with NGX by 30 July, while NEM Insurance confirmed its statements had already been published via the Exchange's portal. Following the approval and publication of its accounts, NEM Insurance lifted the closed period that had been in effect since the start of 2026, allowing company insiders and connected persons to resume trading in the firm's shares.
One company adjusted its timeline. BUA Foods Plc postponed its scheduled board meeting from 29 July to 30 July 2026, citing the need for an additional day to review and approve its second-quarter unaudited statements.
The rescheduled meeting remains focused on the same agenda—considering and approving the Q2 2026 financial statements for the period ended 30 June. The activity reflects compliance with NGX rules requiring listed firms to publish quarterly results within specified timeframes following the close of each reporting period.
Dangote Cement and May & Baker both noted that closed periods restricting insider trading during the results preparation phase remain active until 24 hours after public disclosure of the financials. The sequence of approvals and filings demonstrates the coordinated nature of Nigeria's listed company reporting calendar, with most major firms completing their Q2 reviews within a two-day window.
