Makinde: PDP Members with Wike Are Enemies of Democracy

During a visit to Bauchi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde stated that any member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) who aligns with Nyesom Wike is an enemy of democracy. This declaration came as he met with his counterpart, Governor Bala Mohammed.

Makinde criticized Wike's faction within the PDP, asserting that it undermines the party's integrity and unity, especially ahead of the 2027 elections. He highlighted that the PDP has lost 34 senators to rival parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), amid internal crises.

Despite these challenges, Makinde expressed optimism about the party's future and its ability to compete effectively in the upcoming elections. He also addressed the need for reconciliation within the party but emphasized that it should not compromise the party's principles.

The meeting included discussions on the party's dwindling representation in the Senate and the urgent need for defectors to return to strengthen the PDP.
