Makinde Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP Amid Defection Rumors

On Monday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde addressed stakeholders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's secretariat in Ibadan, where he dismissed rumors regarding his potential defection from the party. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, stating his commitment to the party's future and its relevance despite current challenges.

Makinde emphasized the importance of unity within the party as they prepare for the 2027 general elections, asserting that the PDP will remain a dominant force. He announced that first-term members of the state House of Assembly would be granted automatic tickets for re-election based on existing agreements, including a rotational arrangement.

The meeting included notable figures such as former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, highlighting the PDP's collective strategy for the upcoming electoral cycle.
