PDP Reaffirms Support for Makinde, Urges Political Unity

On Monday, the South West leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) reaffirmed its total support for Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde during a press briefing held at the party's zonal headquarters in Ibadan. The party, represented by Sanya Atofarati, called for unity among its members and cautioned against attempts to inflame political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Atofarati praised Makinde's administration for delivering democratic dividends and strengthening governance institutions. The PDP emphasized its commitment to providing a credible, people-driven alternative focused on stability and good governance in Nigeria.

The party also addressed rumors of an impeachment plot against Makinde, labeling such claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt to stir political tension. They criticized former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose's comments regarding Makinde, describing them as irresponsible and self-serving, and urged Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant against disgruntled political actors.
