Makinde Promises Smooth Transition for Successor

On Monday, Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, hosted members of the Muslim community at a Hijrah 1448 luncheon in Ibadan. He declared that after eight years in office, he would not dictate terms to his successor, ensuring a smooth transition that allows the new leader to develop and implement policies aligned with the people's aspirations.

Makinde stated, “I won’t be a political godfather to my successor,” emphasizing that political leadership should focus on serving humanity rather than controlling successors. He urged eligible voters to evaluate candidates for the 2027 general elections based on their competence, character, and commitment to public service, rather than ethnicity or religion.

Makinde assured residents of his administration's commitment to good governance and the continuation of impactful projects until the end of his tenure. He expressed gratitude to the people of Oyo State for their support and acknowledged the Muslim community's contributions.
