Oyo Speaker Criticized Over Alleged Impeachment Bribery

Adeolu Adeleke, the former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, publicly criticized the current Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin, for allegedly offering financial inducements to facilitate a plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde. This statement was made during a press release in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday.

Adeleke, who served as Speaker from 2003 to 2007 and played a significant role in the legal battle following the 2005 impeachment of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, urged Ogundoyin to stop spreading rumors and to disclose the names of those who purportedly offered bribes. He emphasized the need for transparency and integrity within the Speaker's office, warning that failure to address these allegations could damage public trust in the legislature.

The current political climate has raised suspicions regarding the motivations behind the alleged impeachment plot, with Adeleke calling for clarity on the matter.
