Oyo Assembly Backs Governor Makinde, Dismisses Impeachment Rumors

On Wednesday, the Oyo State House of Assembly passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Seyi Makinde, dismissing rumors of an impeachment plot against him. Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin led the session, where lawmakers reaffirmed their support for the executive leadership.

The motion was majorly supported by Sanjo Adedoyin, who described the impeachment rumors as baseless and politically motivated distractions. The assembly noted that there had been no formal communication suggesting any impeachment process within the chamber.

Recent political speculations included claims linking Makinde to Oba Rashidi Ladoja and allegations of a plot against the monarch, which were also deemed unfounded. Deputy Speaker Moham Fadeyi seconded the motion, emphasizing the unity of the House and commending Makinde's administration for its performance in infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Chief Whip Gbenga Oyekola distanced the assembly from the impeachment discussions and urged those behind the rumors to desist, highlighting the assembly's focus on delivering democratic dividends to the people of Oyo State.
