Aramid Makind Becomes Nigeria's Youngest Karate Black Belt

On a Saturday morning, 10-year-old Aramid Makind made history by becoming Nigeria's youngest karate black belt, a title he earned at the National Stadium in Lagos. His journey in martial arts began at the age of two when he trained under coach Uchenna Duru at a local martial arts academy.

Duru, a 4th Dan black belt, recognized Makind's potential early on and guided him through rigorous training sessions that included early morning runs and consistent practice every weekend and holiday. Aramid's parents, especially his mother Dr.

Elizabeth Makind, played a crucial role in his success, dedicating time, money, and energy to support his training. His younger brother, Adedolapo Makind, also participates in karate, having earned a green belt at just seven years old.
