Makinde Commits to Pensioners' Welfare in Oyo State

On Monday, Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of pensioners during the unveiling of a newly acquired ambulance by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) for its Sure Health Care Hospital in Agbarigo, Ibadan. The governor was represented by Hon Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, who praised the NUP leadership for their initiatives benefiting senior citizens.

Ige commended NUP State Chairman James Oyadotun and State Secretary Comrade Dr Olusegun Abatan for their leadership. He noted the union's achievements, including the construction of the Pensioners’ House and the establishment of a Pensioners FM radio station.

Ige also highlighted the Makinde administration's interventions, such as enrolling pensioners in a health insurance scheme at no cost, increasing the monthly pension board allocation from N250 million to N3 billion, and providing welfare packages like Christmas bonuses and transport support funds. He assured pensioners of continued support from the Makinde administration.
