APM Confident Makinde Will Defeat Tinubu in 2027

The Allied People’s Movement (APM) expressed strong confidence that its 2027 presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming general election. This assertion was made in a statement by APM's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, on Wednesday.

The statement was a response to comments made by Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala, who labeled Makinde as inconsequential. The APM interpreted the Presidency's remarks as indicative of concern over Makinde's increasing political stature ahead of the election.

Yusuf criticized the Presidency for attacking personalities instead of defending its record, suggesting that such tactics reveal a lack of confidence in its achievements. He emphasized that the 2027 election would clarify who is truly inconsequential.

The party believes that Makinde's impressive record in transforming Oyo State into a leading economy positions him favorably against Tinubu, who they claim should be apprehensive about the competition.
