Tinubu, APC Fear Makinde's Popularity Ahead of 2027

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has accused President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of fearing the increasing popularity of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who is their presidential candidate for the 2027 elections. This allegation arose following Governor Makinde's exclusion from the flag-off ceremony of the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode road project on Monday.

The APM, through its National Publicity Secretary Abubakar Yusuf, stated that the federal government and the APC were concerned that Makinde's presence would highlight President Tinubu's failures, especially in road project execution. The APM claimed that while Tinubu has not completed 250 kilometers of roads in the South-West since taking office in 2023, Makinde has successfully executed over 360 kilometers in Oyo State.

The party also expressed that the APC is uneasy about Makinde's ability to unite various political leaders and stakeholders. They asserted that the APC and Tinubu cannot avoid confronting Makinde in the upcoming January 2027 elections.
